HOW IT WORKS
I mean, it’s a book club.
It’s pretty simple.
Click on the Join tab to be added to our email subscriber list, where we will send you information on the upcoming dates of our meetings and each month’s read (links to a hardcopy, kindle copy, or libgen. download- ** wink wink **).
At optional bi-weekly meetings, in person or through zoom, members will discuss appropriately allotted chapters- life gets in the way of many little joys like reading and no one wants to be in the business of assigning homework. Talk about the author’s beautiful prose, how much you hated chapter 8 because it was excruciatingly boring, how you spilled your iced latte on your white shirt on the train to work, don’t even talk at all. Maybe sitting around with a bunch of burnt-out post-grads drinking coffee in silence is enough to cure SAD.
FAQs
Is it free?
Yes, it’s free. There are no membership costs, no fees, and no obligation to purchase any books. We are dedicated to ensuring everyone (especially those of us in student loan debt) can indulge in guilty-pleasure reading.
How do I get a book?
You can find all of our read and reviewed books On The Shelf. Under This Month’s book, we provide links to all methods of obtaining a copy- hardback, paperback, e-book, audiobook, slightly suspicious pdf. We also email our members with this information and more.
Do I have to do anything?
No, you don’t technically have to do anything.
But you should. Meetings are held every few weeks to discuss the book and any relevant material. We hope to foster a community of avid readers who find the time to escape into a good book, expand our literary library, and get to talk about it.
How do I attend meetings?
After joining the club, we will send you emails updating you on the wheres and hows of our upcoming meetings. You can also find this information under our Calendar, which is updated to let you know.
Is this a cult/scam/weird frat?
Not a cult.
Not a scam.
Maybe a weird frat- If “book club for young professionals” falls under that category.
How do the Monthly Reads get chosen?
We try our best to rotate through genres and craft a selection of books that are diverse in their genre, subject matter, characters, and authors. Ultimately, it’s up to our members. We hold votes every month on the next new read.
